Journeyman/Apprentice Service Electricians

About the Role

Indoor Elements Mechanical is looking for professional Service Electricians to join our team in Grande Prairie. We are hiring both Journeypersons and Apprentices who are passionate about troubleshooting, technical problem-solving, and providing top-tier electrical service to our residential and commercial customers.

As a Service Electrician, your day-to-day will involve a variety of environments—from diagnosing a faulty circuit in a local home to upgrading lighting systems in a commercial facility. We value technicians who are not only great with a multimeter but also excellent at communicating with clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service & Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions in various residential and commercial systems.
  • Installations: Set up and wire new equipment, including interior/exterior lighting, switches, outlets, and specialized HVAC electrical components.
  • Upgrades: Perform panel upgrades, basement developments, and renovations to ensure systems meet current electrical codes.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local municipal requirements.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service calls, including materials used and work performed.
  • Safety First: Consistently follow safety protocols (PPE, LOTO) to ensure a safe environment for yourself and the customer.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Certification: Valid Alberta Journeyman Electrician Certificate (Red Seal preferred) or current registration as an Alberta Electrical Apprentice.
  • Troubleshooting: Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to identify issues in complex wiring and control systems.
  • Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and building drawings.
  • Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical issues to customers clearly and professionally.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces (crawls/attics), climb ladders, and lift tools/materials as required.
  • Requirements: Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean abstract for operating company service vehicles.
