For over three decades, Indoor Elements Mechanical (formerly G&L Heating and Cooling) has been Grande Prairie's premier heating, ventilation, and air conditioning provider.
From our humble beginnings as a two-person operation to our modern 5,200 square foot facility in the Grande Prairie Industrial Park, we've built our reputation on quality workmanship, honest service, and unwavering commitment to our community.
Our Story
How We Got Here...
Indoor Elements Mechanical began in 1991 when Gord and Lena Buechner, both born and raised in the Grande Prairie area, launched their own venture as G&L Heating and Cooling.
As the business evolved, we officially incorporated in 1996 — a significant milestone. In the years that followed, we rebranded to Indoor Elements Mechanical to better reflect our growing capabilities, expanding beyond HVAC to include full plumbing and electrical services.
In the spring of 2025, Gord and Lena decided it was time for their well-earned retirement. Their son Cory Buechner — a Journeyman Class A Gasfitter and 20-year fixture at Indoor Elements — purchased the business, supported by his wife Jessie and their two sons. The family tradition continues.

The Beginning
1991 — Company Startup
G&L Heating and Cooling was founded by Gord and Lena Buechner, both born and raised in the Grande Prairie area. What started as a two-person operation would grow into one of the Peace Country's most trusted mechanical contractors.
Let's Make It Official
1996 — Company Is Officially Incorporated
G&L Heating officially incorporated, marking a significant milestone for the business. This led to an expansion of services and an eventual rebrand to Indoor Elements Mechanical — the name you see today.

2010 — Grande Prairie's Small Business Of The Year
With our commitment to maintaining a positive working environment and delivering exceptional service, we were awarded Small Business of the Year (Under 10 Employees) by the Grande Prairie Chamber of Commerce.
The Future
2025 — Retirement and A Look To The Future
Our original founders, Gord and Lena, began their well-earned retirement. Their son Cory Buechner — a Journeyman Class A Gasfitter with 20 years at Indoor Elements — purchased the company, supported by his wife Jessie and their two sons. The family tradition continues.
